When did you begin working at CALM/ How long have you been at CALM?

I began working at CALM in February of 2014.

What is your role at CALM?

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I provide individual therapy, family therapy, case management, and collateral services to clients in programs such as HOPE (Helping Others in Parenting Environments), IIH (Intensive In-Home), and the Parent Child Therapy Program.

Please share one of your best CALM experiences (a time you felt like you really made a difference).

Recently, I ran into a family member of a client I had the pleasure of treating about a year ago. She gave me a hug and thanked me for working with her family. She shared that my old client was well on his way towards accomplishing the things he used to discuss in treatment. It was moving to hear how someone with a legacy of neglect and abandonment was creating a new legacy for himself.

Finish the sentence, “If I could do one thing to make kids’ lives better, I would….”

If I could do one thing to make kids lives better I would give them a relationship with someone who is patient, understanding, and durable enough to survive the trials and errors kids go through in finding themselves.

What is one thing you wish people knew about CALM?

In addition to trying to help children and adolescents thrive, we also empower and support the walls around them. This includes caretakers and other support systems. It takes a village to raise a child.
