CALM’s school based prevention program is designed to prevent abuse by equipping all children with knowledge and protective strategies to use before abuse takes place, as well as teaching parents and teachers how to recognize abuse. The “CALM Lady” visits classrooms at a variety of local schools, by request. She teaches body safety skills, including Good Touch, Bad Touch and Secret Touch. It is estimated that one year of School-Based Prevention will spare 250 children from the trauma of abuse, as well as encouraging 100 who have experienced abuse to seek intervention, treatment and legal recourse.
CALM is also able to provide mandated reporter training to teachers, camp counselors, coaches and other adults who work with children.
