My CALM career began in 2004.
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. As the North County Director of Prevention and Treatment I oversee the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the services. I strive to provide a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and leadership development so that the impact of our work in the North County can exponentially grow.
In 2008 I became a Child Forensic Interviewer. After one of the forensic interviews, I received a subpoena to testify and defend the interview in court. I was really nervous about going to court. Yet to see that teenager face his perpetrator gave me the courage to do my job and continue to support him through that difficult process. Months later I saw this teen at CALM, he smiled and thanked me for supporting him. At that point I felt like I had made a difference and had also gained so much from him.
If I could do one thing to make kids lives better, I would ensure that every child has safe and supportive environment to help them succeed and follow their dreams.
I wish people knew that CALM is a place where parents and their children can get support and that is not only about treating child abuse trauma.
