I started working for CALM in January 2011.
I work in CALM’s North County Family Drug Treatment Court (FDTC) Program. I am a Nurturing Parenting educator and Child and Family Specialist.
A client was updating the court about her program and recovery and the Judge asked, “What is working for you?” The client answered “This program is. I meet with my CALM worker Robin a couple times a week and I just love her, except every time I start to talk with her in our sessions, I end up crying.” As the client starts to cry in court, she continues, “I’m clean now and I now can feel my feelings; I now know it’s OK to cry and to feel.”
This client graduated FDTC, her recovery program and reunified with her son.
If I could do one thing to make kids’ lives better, I would teach children that every single one is special in their own way, that it isn’t about being like everybody else, it’s about being an individual and unique; I would educate those that are in the lives of children to encourage them as much as they can and to appreciate and nurture the person that they are.
This is a warn and welcoming agency. Our staff is about putting our whole heart into our work. Those that work for CALM are amazing and genuine individuals.
