SUMMARY: This position is in the Whatever It Takes: Intensive Family Services (WIT) Program in our Santa Barbara office. The WIT team provides intensive therapeutic interventions to children and families across all of Santa Barbara County. WIT clients have the highest level of need for mental health interventions because of their histories of abuse, trauma and neglect, severe emotional disturbance or mental illness.
The Therapist provides therapy services on-site or in the field as needed for children up to age 21 and their families. The Therapist supports the client and his/her family in meeting their mental health goals. Therapy is focused on healing mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, problems in the parent-child relationship, or other social-emotional challenges with the ultimate goal of restoring children and families to a healthy level of functioning. The Therapist provides written documentation of all client, family and case management contacts, and meets Medi-Cal documentation standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates a treatment plan with measurable and observable goals in collaboration with supervisor, client and caregivers.
- Completes clinical assessment with clients to assess their strengths and needs from a clinical perspective.
- Provides developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions for children and families. Therapy services are often provided during after-school and evening hours when most convenient for clients.
- Coordinates with other agencies when appropriate to implement treatment plan.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with parents, families, and clients.
- Maintains a minimum of 60% documentable clinical time.
- Participates in individual and group clinical supervision on a weekly basis. Seeks guidance from Clinical Supervisor to handle complex client issues.
- Completes all agency required documentation, including progress notes and assessments, in a timely manner.
- Meets Medi-Cal documentation standards.
- Completes items on Electronic Health Record task list in a timely manner.
- Maintains log of intern hours and routinely brings to Clinical Supervisor for approval.
- Attends CALM agency staff meetings and weekly team meetings
- Attends trainings and conferences as needed or required by supervisor
- Participates in community education and outreach
- Maintains safe practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- MFT Associate, MSW Associate, or Pre-Doctorate student from an accredited university or college required.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working with complex issues surrounding children and families and knowledge of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Model preferred.
- Previous experience working in the nonprofit sector and training in Medi-Cal documentation standards highly desirable.
- Strong verbal/written communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.

- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

- Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV, and criminal record clearance from DOJ.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:
A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Normal hours of work will be established between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary is DOE. Positions of 30 or more hours per week, include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a 403(b) matching retirement program.
