SUMMARY: The Lead Mental Health Consultant works primarily in schools, after school programs and child care centers to support teachers/facilitators, children and families. The Lead Consultant is available to train and mentor other Mental Health Consultants in their efforts to support teachers, parents/families, and individual children.
Therapeutic/Mental Health Consultation Responsibilities
- Creates a treatment plan with measurable and observable goals in collaboration with supervisor, client, and caregivers.
- Trains, mentors and supports other mental health consultants in their efforts to support teachers, parents and individual children.
- Designs and implements Administrative Reflective Practice, Support Groups, Teacher Trainings and Parent Education as needed.
- Works with administrators, teachers, aides, school site staff, and other professionals in the classroom.
- Facilitates Administrative Reflective Practice as needed.
- Coaches teachers on targeted behavior interventions.
- Models appropriate interactions with students.
- Provides reflective practice groups for teachers, as needed.
- Supports teachers and staff in restorative approaches.
- Assists teachers in parent conferences and other meetings as needed.
- Organizes and provides trainings for teachers, administrators, school staff, and parents.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, families, teachers, and school staff.
- Maintains a minimum of 60% documentable clinical time.
- Participates in individual and group clinical supervision as required.
- Completes all agency required documentation, including progress notes and assessments, in a timely manner.
- Provides weekly reports/notes to external agencies as required.
- Meets Medi-cal documentation standards.
- Completes items on Electronic Health Record task list in a timely manner.
- Attends CALM agency staff meetings and weekly team meetings.
- Attends trainings and conferences as needed or required by supervisor.
- Participates in community education and outreach.
- Maintain safe practices.
- Promotes an open, inclusive work environment that emphasizes cooperation and teamwork, and building trust while ensuring accountability.
- Other duties as assigned that pertain to the position.
- Clinical Skills – Using a strength-based approach, builds rapport with clients and family members to support them in improving their mental health and meeting their goals; refers clients to ancillary services, as needed. Client care range shall be 50 – 60%, pro-rated on amount of time designated for client care. Documentation to be completed within 72 hours. Task list not to exceed 5 pending tasks due.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- LCSW, LMFT, from an accredited university or college, or licensed Psychologist required.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of legal, ethical and evidence based practice.
- 2 – 3 years of experience working with complex issues surrounding children and families in a behavior health agency preferred.
- Experience in supervisory roles or leadership skills desired.
- Experience working with Mental Health Consultation and/or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Model preferred.
- Must have a passion for CALM’s mission and the ability to convey that passion to others.
- Strong computer knowledge, using PC, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and problem solving skills.
- Public speaking skills and ability to network within the community.
- Able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Able to work in busy environment, under pressure, without compromising accuracy, attention to detail or courtesy to staff and others.
- Able to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Able to demonstrate sound judgment, initiative and critical thinking.
- Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to make decisions.
- Must be flexible and have the ability to collaborate with others.

- Must have respect for confidentiality; ability to work with discretion and integrity.
- Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV, reliable transportation, and criminal record clearance from DOJ.
- Ability to interact with all ages and cultural backgrounds.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- May be required to provide prove of Measles vaccination of a Titer showing immunity, Pertussis vaccination in the last 10 years, and TB test within the last 4 years.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:
A work schedule will be established on consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Normal hours of work will be established between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary is dependent on experience. Positions of 30 or more hours per week, include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a 403(b) and matching retirement program.
