SUMMARY: The Home Visitor works with children and families in the home and in the community to promote positive parenting, prevent child abuse and neglect, and facilitate optimal child development. Using a bio-psycho-social approach, the Home Visitor works to reduce vulnerabilities and promote protective factors in the child, the family and the community. The Home Visitor partners with families to meet their goals and provides case management to help the family access natural supports and resources. The Home Visitor provides written documentation of all client, family and case management contacts, and meets “best practices” documentation standards in writing of notes.
- Completes screening and assessment with clients to assess their strengths and needs.
- Coordinates with other agencies and affiliates when appropriate to help family with concrete needs and other support.
- Provides regularly scheduled home visits to work towards treatment.

- Maintains cooperative working relationships with parents, families, and clients.
- Maintains required productivity levels
- Writes progress notes and completes assessments in a timely manner
- Attends trainings and conferences as needed or required by program manager

- Attends CALM agency staff meetings and weekly team meetings

- Clinical Skills – Using a strength-based approach, builds rapport with clients and family members to support them in improving their mental health and meeting their goals; refers clients to ancillary services, as needed. Client care range shall be 50 – 60%, pro-rated on amount of time designated for client care. Documentation to be completed within 72 hours. Task list not to exceed 5 pending tasks due.

- Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BA Degree in related field from an accredited university or college preferred with one year experience, or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited university or college with 2 – 3 years related work experience. Must have some previous experience in the social services sector and/or early childhood education experience. Previous experience working in the nonprofit sector highly desirable.

- Bilingual (Spanish) desired, but not required.
- Able to work collaboratively and get along well with others.
- Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV, and criminal record clearance from DOJ.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full time position. A 40 hour work week schedule will be established on consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Normal hours of work will be established between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary is DOE. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a 403(b).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
