CALM is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent, assess and treat child abuse in Santa Barbara County by providing comprehensive, culturally competent services for children, adults and families. For the past 45 years, CALM has been on the cutting edge of the child abuse treatment and prevention field. CALM has led the non-profit community in adopting evidence-based practices in treatment and prevention models and using assessment and data to evaluate effectiveness.
The Childcare Provider supports CALM group meetings by providing childcare to clients. This position is based in CALM’s Santa Maria office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides childcare services to children during CALM support group meetings
- Engages children in developmentally appropriate activities
- Trains childcare volunteers in best practices
- Communication skills – Speaks and writes clearly and informatively; listens to others; works to resolve conflicts and maintains confidentiality; able to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, participants, partner agencies and the community.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have knowledge and experience working with children from ages 0-10. Early childhood education experience preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

- Bilingual (Spanish) desired, but not required.
- Must have valid CA drivers’ license, clean DMV, and criminal record clearance from DOJ.

HOURS of EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part- time position. A 15 hour work week schedule will be established on consultation with the supervisor, evening and weekend hours may apply. The normal work week is Monday – Friday. Normal hours of work will be established between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary is DOE. Benefits include sick leave and a 403(b).
